Traveling is one of those things that most people would like to do, because the idea of it sounds good to them. However, when it comes down to booking a trip and thinking about what you need to do before you go, most people just won’t do it.
Why do you think that is? Well because it would immediately remove them from their comforts of home. They would be forced to learn about a new culture, experience new foods and try to speak another language.
What’s the point in do all that, when you can just sit at home and eat junk food, whilst watching your favourite TV show right?
Well, today I want to inspire you… I’d like to show you why it’s a good thing (heck, an amazing thing) to travel the world for an extended period of time, without worrying about what’s going on back home.
1. You learn about new cultures
You’ve heard of the term “culture shock” right? Well, this happens when you’re thrown into a situation in a different country that is very unfamiliar to you.
Experiencing new cultures is an amazing way to open your mind and allow yourself to be immersed into ways of living that you’re not used too. You’ll be surprised at how much you can learn, enjoy and even love just by going with the flow.
2. Your mind will be awash with new ideas
If you’re feeling stuck in life, traveling could be your answer to unlocking your full potential. Seriously, when you travel to new countries your mind becomes active again. You’re not doing the same mind numbingly boring tasks that you do at home and thus will be thinking constantly of new ideas for businesses, personal projects etc.
3. You will meet cool, interesting people
This world is a huge place and if you spend most of it in the same country, village, town or city then you’re limiting your options to meeting new people. This goes for your romantic life and your personal life. The more people you meet from all types of backgrounds, the happier and more fulfilled you will be. I promise you that.
4. You will learn how to speak several languages
Knowing how to speak several languages is one of the most rewarding things you can learn. There’s nothing worse than feeling helpless when someone is speaking to you in their mother tongue and you have no idea what they’re saying.
5. You will try new foods
Food is a BIG part of everyone’s life and traveling allows you try new foods that you may have never tried before. If you’re the more stubborn type that knows what they like and won’t try anything else, you should seriously consider broadening your horizons a little more. Otherwise it’s very easy for you to fall into the comfort trap.
6. Opportunities will open up to you
Whatever your goals are in life, traveling will most certainly open up doors that you otherwise might not have been aware of before. Whether you want to advance in yoga or you’d like to meet a special someone, maybe you have an idea for a business and want to explore your options abroad… traveling will help you do that.
Traveling is the best way to create a better life for yourself, without having to spend much money. You will be a happier, more open minded and well rounded person if you travel to some place new every year. Oh and one more thing… I’m not saying you should book a resort and sit next to the pool for the entire time, that’s just dumb and lazy.
